Hazardous Materials Release - HAZMAT

HAZMAT is an abbreviation for "hazardous materials". It refers to any substance or material that can pose a risk to health, safety, or the environment. HAZMATs can be in the form of liquids, solids, gases, or a combination of all three.

The West Concord Fire Department personnel are trained and equipped at the First Responder Awareness level (Level 1) as defined in 29 CFR 1910.120. In the event that a higher level of response is needed, the Fire Department will set up a perimeter and evacuate as necessary and await the arrival of a qualified Hazardous Materials Team dispatched through the State Duty Officer via the County Sheriff’s Office.
